Description
SDM COR 121 is an amine-based water-soluble corrosion inhibitor used in water-based and solids-free systems. It helps reduce the corrosion effect in the presence of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other acid gases by providing and buffering alkalinity.
Physical Properties
- Appearance............ Colorless to pale yellow liquid
- Solubility.................... Soluble in water and brines
- pH (1%) ......................................................... >10.0
- Specific gravity@ 25°C ......................... 1.02 ± 0.03
- Flash point (°C) ................................................. >90
Applications
SDM COR 121 provides corrosion protection against acid gases in drilling and solids-free fluids. It provides and buffers alkalinity reducing acid gases' effect on metallurgy. It is also used to provide polymer stability at high temperatures. It is stable at temperatures up to 375 °F.
SDM COR 121 should be used as part of a corrosion inhibition package, which usually includes oxygen scavengers, biocide, and H2S scavengers, etc.
It is typically used at 0.1 – 1% v/v, depending on the application.
Presentation / Packaging
SDM COR 121 is packaged in 55-gal (208-L) drums.
