Description
SDM SURF is a blend of effective surfactants that can be used for multiple applications during drilling operations. SDM SURF reduces torque and drag, improves penetration rate, and reduces bit balling and sticking tendencies of reactive clay. It helps in the dispersion of formation solids preventing buildup or caking. It is effective in freshwater, saltwater and KCl brines.
Physical Properties
- Appearance....................... Pale yellow color liquid
- Solubility........ Soluble in water, glycol, and brines
- pH (1% solution) ....................................... 6.0 – 9.0
- Flashpoint (°C) (Closed cup).......................... >100
- Specific gravity @ 20°C ........................... 1.0 ± 0.1
Applications
SDM SURF can be added directly to the mud and is typically used at a concentration of 0.2 – 0.8 L/m³. For gumbo shale, use higher doses, depending on the type of the brine. An excessive dose can create foam in the mud.
Presentation / Packaging
PRO SURF is packaged in 55-gal (208-L) drums or 5-gal (18.9-L) pails.
