Description
Potassium Iodide is primarily used as a corrosion inhibitor aid or intensifier in Acidizing operations.
Physical Properties
- Appearance ........................ White crystalline solid
- Solubility......................... Soluble in water and acid
- pH (1% solution) ....................................... 6.0– 8.0
Applications
Potassium Iodide is used to extend the upper-temperature stability of the acid corrosion inhibitor samples when used above 250°F with HCL and HF. Potassium Iodide helps in reducing the corrosion rates in HCl up to 28%.
The amount of Potassium Iodide required will be depending upon acid type, acid strength, and operating conditions. Run a compatibility test prior to the actual trials. The general dose will range from 1 to 100 lbs /1000 gallons of acid depending upon the conditions.
Presentation / Packaging
Potassium Iodide is packed in 25 kg drums.
